Fernwood, Columbia & Gulf M4
Moving the M4 to Long Leaf
|
|
In 1974, the M4 was purchased by
Louis Saillard and moved from the
FC&G at Jena, Louisiana to Reader, Arkansas.
She would languish there for next 34
years.
In 1994, Mr. Saillard donated the M4
to the SFHM. However, it would be another 14 years before she would
reach her new home.
|
|
On May 10, 2008, the crew set out
to bring the M4 home to Long Leaf.
These are Andrews cast-frame
trucks from about 1915. They belonged to the Reader Railroad and were
returned on the "up trip."

Fortunately M4 had a very bright
future coming in short order. #400 is still waiting for some much-needed
