The

rebuilding
the
rear axles, installing new bearing seals, bearings, and brakes.

These two photos are from February 2010 when we
replaced the plain bearings built by the Fernwood Lumber Company. The
lead truck from the M3, which had Roller Bearings, was installed in its
place.
The original truck had at least one and possibly two bad bearings and we
had no way to replace them. The M-3 truck had been saved and dumped out
in the weeds when the car was moved to Reader. We found it had been
stored in 4-6" of mud. It would hardly roll, so we figured that it was
shot. Larry greased it up one day just to see what would happen and it
rolled away from him down a grade that we could hardly see. Thus we
decided to swap it out. It has been a good decision.
In the pictures, we have removed the M4 truck and the M-3 truck is on
the tracks waiting for us to rebuild the kingpin assembly under the car
as everything was (as expected) quite different because both cars were
home-built by the FC&G.

the M4, operates her for the first time.
